What a week

Life, Lessons, Product & the Podcast.

Thank you so much for signing up joining me on this journey, as I write about everything about Product & words of wisdom for life.

I really hope you enjoy this and find it valuable - Evie.

Life lessons...

As much as Product is interesting, I also wanted to share some of the highs and lows of (nomad) life. I love talking about more than just work, as I think it is so important to remain human and remember what matters most - everything else that is going on...

So lets get to it...

It has been a wild couple of weeks.

I've been in a super good mood - the sun has been shining, I'm making the most of my last few weeks in the UK (including watching the lionesses win at a fab 'networking' event in Leeds) ⚽️ 🏡

However, there's also been a lot happening. People around me have been having a really tough emotional time.

I can’t count the number of people in the last couple of weeks that have said ‘sorry’ to me, because they’ve been upset about something and I've been there for them.

& if there’s one thing that I’ve learnt in life - it’s that we should never be sorry for how we feel.

You’re allowed to feel how you feel.

You should only care about how you react.

I'm not just talking about how we react towards others, but also towards ourselves. My choice is to always react with kindness.

I will always seek to understand why I feel that way, but I will also be kind and compassionate to myself along the way.

If you've had one of these weeks - be kind to yourself, reflect on any areas that you can improve, and I really hope it gets better for you!

Product Talk

Ok - the part that most people might care about..

I've had a grand total of six people ask me for career advice this week - so I thought it was about time I put together a guide to showcase how you can land your dream PM role.

There's a tonne of advice in here, whether it is your first PM role, or you're looking to make a move to a new area. I've put together all of my expert tips - so please share with anyone that this could be useful for.

The podcast.

We were joined by James Whitman to cover some super important topics:

✨ How to create an amazing Product culture in your team
✨ How to decide when you need to pivot in Product, and how to handle the tricky conversations in this space
✨ The impact of burnout, how to work through this - and tips to help prevent burnout from happening

James has done amazing work to build up an incredible team and share his knowledge through coaching Product People. This episode is definitely worth a listen to gain some tips on how you can do the same.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings - hopefully you'll be back for more!

Idk about you Reader, but I had the craziest summer (and not always in a good way..) My closest point to a meltdown was in August.. I was fixing furniture in my flat until 10pm (f*ck knows what my tenant did in there), getting the 5.30am train to run a client workshop in London & then flying straight to Berlin. It was intense. I'm not really sure how I made it all happen. Product Management often looks like this. A rollercoaster of planning, launches, fires to fight, targets that are falling...

How often do you step out of your comfort zone ? When I was working 9-5, I actually didn't step out of my comfort zone very often. Maybe I'd do the odd presentation that would scare me, or have the odd meeting with the CEO - but it all started to feel kinda normal. The truth is, that most of the time we only make change when things get that bad. We don't make changes based on the potential of how good it could get to be (I mean think about that average relationship that you stayed in for far...

Reader did you know that the average salary increase when stepping in to product leadership is 26%?! It's one of the most lucrative career moves that you could make. Stepping in to product leadership is one of the best career moves you can make. More time to spend on strategy, actually getting to lead & inspire teams and really driving the direction of a company. But... many struggle with confidence, imposter syndrome, and knowing how to lead and inspire others. & don't even get me started on...
